We are a small, friendly, and forward-thinking GP practice, seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Medical Receptionist / Administration Assistant. The post is a part-time position, offering 23 hours over 4 days and you must be flexible to cover annual leave or sickness.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and IT skills, along with a solid understanding of administrative processes. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the practice, supporting both patients and clinical staff.
Key Duties Include:
• Providing a professional, confidential and welcoming reception service
• Signpost patients to the most appropriate clinician / service
• Processing prescription requests
• Process new registrations as per practice protocols
• Process incoming and outgoing mail/emails
• Handling patient enquiries in person, by phone, and online
• Carrying out general administrative tasks
• Audio typing and document management
Skills:
• Organisational skills with attention to detail to multi-task
• Excellent communications skills to interact with both patients and colleagues
• Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft office software applications including word and excel
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with patient enquiries sensitively and appropriately
• Ability to follow and implement practice procedures
Experience with EMIS and Docman systems would be advantageous, although full training will be provided for the right candidate. Previous experience within general practice, the NHS, or a patient-facing role is desirable, but not essential.
